Comment: | The Grange Village aims to assist adults with learning difficulties by offering a home in an extended family living situation. The Village offers meaningful work, adult education, general care and opportunities for personal development within a working community setting. Diversity is the keynote at the Grange Village. In term time, adult literacy courses are run by visiting tutors from the Royal Forest of Dean College. Drama, speech and music are all actively pursued as both recreational activities and offerings for the wider community.
Established in 1961 and situated on the edge of the Forest of Dean, the site today comprises:
+ eight extended-family houses;
+ three flats;
+ a hall with seating for one hundred and forty;
+ a health centre;
+ a gift shop;
+ several workshops.
In all, ninety people (forty residents, plus co-workers and their children) live in the Grange Village.
