Organisation: Mothers Union - Gloucester Diocese

Comment:

The Mothers Union is a world-wide organisation whose purpose it is to be concerned with all aspects of Christian family life. As a voluntary organisation, The Mothers Union offers friendship, care and unconditioned love to thousands of women and men throughout the world, a lifeline for many families. It is a praying, teaching and caring society. Membership is open to both men and women who have been baptised in the name of the Trinity and who support the organisations aim and objectives.
The Mothers Union also funds and organises holidays for underprivileged families called 'Away From It All' holidays. Applications for these are handled at the diocesan office of the Mothers Union. The Mothers Union supports the Mothers Union Money Advice Service (MUMAS) - see separate record. They also have a contact centre to help divided families, and run a play area for children visiting relatives in Leyhill Prison, and support the Mother and Baby Section at Eastwood Park Prison, as well as fund-raising for various overseas projects.
