Comment: | The Gloucestershire Resource Centre (GRC) aims to increase community and individual involvement in arts and play and to raise the profile of 're-use', particularly amongst children and young people. It achieves this by supporting community groups in various practical ways:
the Scrapstore - a service which collects local business waste that is suitable for re-use. Back in the store it is made available as a collective source of extraordinary and creative materials;
+ a low-cost arts and crafts shop;
+ a hire service including various creative kits, dressing-up clothes and games to enable groups to offer a broader range of activity;
+ a multicultural / multi-faith learning resource section, consisting of books, dolls, puzzles, and music;
+ training opportunities for organisations.
The GRC's services are only available to groups and organisations on a subscription basis.
The Centre's City Works building is a community resource too, and features a dance studio, fully equipped meeting rooms and a spacious art room - all are available to members and non-members alike on an hourly basis. |
