Comment: | Pets As Therapy is a UK wide national charity with over three thousand volunteers, who together with their temperament assessed dogs and cats, visit a variety of establishments such as hospitals, residential homes, special needs schools and day centres. They are unable to offer the service in private dwellings. They can also assist the medical profession to treat dog / cat phobia, always under clinical supervision.
Volunteers, all of whom are covered by the necessary insurance, take their dogs on regular visits wherever they are welcome, though under eighteens must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Full membership of Pets As Therapy costs £19.00 single, £29.00 joint, and members are asked to commit at least one or two hours per month - more if possible.
There is also a junior club for five to eighteen year olds - phone 08707-308484 for details. |
