Comment: | Action for ME is a national charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME). They provide up to date, comprehensive information on ME treatment and care for patients and healthcare professionals. They offer a signposting service, enabling people to contact counsellors who have experience of the condition, and have a network of over one hundred and fifty local support groups. The charity also offers a unique seven-day residential rehabilitation course to assist in the self-management of the illness and raise the quality of life of people with CFS or ME and help recovery.
Their telephone support line (0845-123-2314 - local rate calls), for anyone suffering from CFS / ME and their carers, now operates between 11:00am and 1:00pm, Monday to Friday and from 6:30 to 8:30pm on Mondays.
Action for ME also supports an NHS Helpline - the CFS/M.E. Helpline on 0845 123 2390 which is open Tuesday to Friday 10am - 1.30pm - intended particularly for people in the South West of England, including Gloucestershire.

Action for M.E. also campaign on patients behalf to ensure that M.E. is widely recognised as a serious illness. |
