Comment: | The Family Link Service offers short term breaks in the community for children with disabilities or long term illness. This service is very popular and there is a waiting list, but the Family Link Service's aim is to provide a link for all children and families who would benefit. It usually takes several months to approve carers, in order to make sure that children will be safe and well cared for. However, most arrangements last for many years, providing excellent support to families. The allocation of places is made following an assessment of need and agreement by a multi-agency 'allocation panel'.
