Comment: | The National Pensioners Convention (NPC) was formed in 1979 to act as the umbrella organisation of the pensioners' movement, throughout the country. Affiliated groups include national bodies and federations, associations of retired trade unionists, as well as hundreds of local and regional pensioner campaign groups.
The NPC's main objective is to promote all pensioners' welfare and interests. They campaign on behalf of all pensioners and negotiate with local and national government, to enable people to live with dignity when they retire, and be confident that they will be well looked after if required.
The NPC regularly organises rallies, leads delegations to parliament and makes submissions to government. They also stage an annual three-day Pensioners' Parliament in Blackpool as well as producing regular newsletters, briefing papers and pamphlets to provide the basis for campaigning. Their library of useful information is available to both groups and individuals on request.
The NPC is unique, being the only national campaign group in the country, which is run by pensioners for pensioners. |
