The North Cotswold Voluntary Car Service offers transport through volunteers using their own cars to carry passengers who find it difficult to use public transport. It is a door to door service, designed to assist anyone without a car to make essential journeys where no public transport exists. It is particularly suitable for people who are disabled, older or housebound, who need to visit the doctor, dentist, chiropodist, optician, library, shops, relatives in hospital in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Oxford or further afield. The current charge is thirty pence per mile which is paid direct to the driver to cover petrol costs etc. - there is a minimum charge of £2.50.
This service is not suitable for people who cannot transfer from a wheelchair into a car.
