The Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre is a small registered charity which aims to support children and their families with special needs from birth or diagnosis until they are six years old. The centre provides family support, home visiting, early counselling, a toy and book library, drop in facility, parent support groups, parent and baby groups, play facilities, internet facility and advice. Sessions here can include specialist services such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapist and physiotherapist. Full portage service is provided. Conductive Education is also available on Wednesdays, term time (limited spaces available). Parents/Carers can self-refer to the centre, please contact the Family Services Manger. A full programme of holiday activities is provided (Easter, Summer and all half terms), with some spaces available for children without special needs. The Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre is open all year.
A support group for parents with a special needs child is held each Thursday, 1:00 to 2:45pm (crèche available).
