Comment: | The Stroud and District Branch of the Alzheimer's Society can offer a home based care and support service, which has been set up to give Carers of people with dementia the chance to take a break. The service operates every day, including weekends, from early in the morning until late evening. The staff member will take over the normal duties of the Carer. The support provided will depend on the needs of the person with dementia, but may include going out for a walk, simple cookery and reading. The support worker cannot undertake tasks usually performed by Home Care or District Nurses; they do not provide personal care.
There is also a Carers Support Group and an 'Alzheimer Cafe UK', which is open once a month in Nailsworth - see separate records.
The branch also runs a weekly activity session for people with dementia, and a befriending scheme for carers. |
