Comment:

Reach Out Projects (ROP) has three Canal Boats which can be hired for the day or residential trips. The boats are located on the Grand Union Canal, close to Hemel Hempstead. Sheldrake II and Close Shave are skippered wide beam boats; both have lifts to allow easy wheelchair access. Both boats will take twelve passengers for day trips and have berths for ten people.
There is also one self-steer narrow boat, which can accommodate twelve. The facilities are available to church groups, families with a disabled member and to any bona fide voluntary or charitable organisation serving young, disabled persons or the community.

The Canal Boats scheme is part of Reach Out Projects, a charity which exists to provide opportunities for people to develop their potential. It does this by offering resources for youth, voluntary and community organisations, schools, etc, particularly ensuring access for people with special needs and physical disabilities.
