Age Concern provides services to older people with the help of volunteers. The organisation offers practical help as well as advice in a number of fields, eg. housing and transport. Close links are maintained with other relevant statutory and voluntary bodies.
Age Concern operate a Luncheon Club (St. Barts Lunch Club), held on Tuesday from 12 noon onwards, at St. Bartholomews, Newent. Lunch costs £2.10 and must be booked before 10:00am on 01531-820306 or 01531-820121. It is supported by Social Services.
The Secretary will help with Attendance Allowance forms, help in the house and garden, help with harrassment and any information contained in the Age Concern Know Your Rights book. They also have funds for needy elderly people, subject to approval by a committee.
Alarm telephones can be purchased for nominated persons through the Forest of Dean District Council, at maintenance cost only.
