Comment: | Cheltenham Sports Association for the the Disabled is centred on a swimming club for physically disabled people of any age. There are swimming sessions for disabled people on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 11:15am at Pittville pool, which are strictly reserved for their club. They are currently campaigning for the removal of the recently applied charges the council has introduced for disabled swimmers - something that was previously free. During the year they have three or four visits to the sea, Safari parks and so on, and they also have a Christmas party where cups are presented for achievements throughout the year.
In 2004 the Association celebrated its fiftieth year, and also won the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award. The Cheltenham Disabled and Carers Club (see separate record) is affiliated to the Cheltenham Sports Association for the Disabled. |
