The National Osteoporosis Society - Cheltenham Group is a support group offering information and support to people with osteoporosis and their carers throughout Gloucestershire. Monthly meetings are held at various venues and they produce a newsletter with a six monthly programme of events including fund-raising.
There are two local helpline numbers run by people with osteoporosis, Valerie on 01242-515891 and Hilda on 01242-244867.
The Group have raised funds to provide the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a bone scanner for the new Osteoporosis Dept. which is operating a County Screening System. Sufferers now have access to the scanner via their GP. All Gloucestershire surgeries have been notified of the open access scheme.
