Comment: | British Red Cross (Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire Area)services include First Aid at public events. There is a Medical Loan Service (see separate record) for items such as wheelchairs, commodes etc, and an International Tracing and Message service to reunite families who have been separated by war, conflict, or natural disaster. The British Red Cross also supplies emergency clothing and support for asylum seekers. There is a Therapeutic Care service providing therapeutic neck / shoulder and arm massage. A skin camoflauge service is also available which provides training to mask natural birth marks or permanent skin complaints.
They also work with the emergency services to supply welfare support for those facing crisis, via the emergency response scheme, fthe Fire and Emergency Support Service, eg If people are made homeless by a fire at their home, the British Red Cross have a Victim Support trailer / caravan to provide immediate support and comfort to the victims at the scene of the fire. |
