Comment: | Acorns Children's Hospice Trust (see separate record) is a registered charity, established in 1983, offering a network of care to life-limited children and support for their families across the heart of England. Acorns hospice in Worcester opened in March 2005. It has ten bedrooms and is a local lifeline for families in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The hospice has an adolescent wing where teenagers can retain independence. There is a hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory room, a Jacuzzi and fully equipped family accommodation so parents can stay knowing their child is receiving professional nursing care nearby.
Other features include rooms for hobbies and music, with lots of activities for different age groups. Outside the gardens provide lots of opportunities for imaginative play and socialising, with a sun, moon and stars garden and a Caribbean themed garden complete with palm trees. |
