Organisation:Age Concern Forest of Dean Advocacy Service

Comment:

This advocacy scheme enables disadvantaged individuals or groups to overcome difficulties they may encounter in representing their interests, rights and wishes to people or bodies with influence over their lives. It aims to empower its users to make effective choices about their lives and to ensure that they be accorded the same respect, dignity and consideration that any other member of society expects.
The Lydney office also operates an Information and Advice service through which clients are signposted to any services / agencies they may need. They can help older people to manage their personal finances and can provide social, moral and practical support for people leaving hospital, and a befriending service.
The Charity is dependent upon volunteers and all services are subject to their availability.
