Comment: | Any person residing in southern Gloucestershire, with a life limiting illness may be referred to the Hospice at any stage of the illness (ie. when newly diagnosed, with a recurrence or at the advanced stages).
The professional team offers a range of services including day care, complementary therapy, social work, counselling and diversional therapy. There is a pastoral care team who offer advice and support. The Hospice also offers patient, family and carer support services, including family therapy, bereavement counselling and support groups in many forms.
The Hospice at Home team provides nursing support to patients, their families and carers in their homes or other community setting. Care may be provided for short term supportive care, or care at the end of life. All services are free and benefit from the help of volunteers.
The hospice has an education department that is committed to enhancing the knowledge and skills of all its staff and community colleagues and believes that education and development contributes towards the quality of care given. |
