The Disabled Photographers' Society (DPS) is a charity set up to encourage disabled people to take up photography as a therapeutic and absorbing interest (the Chairman and a number of Trustees are physically handicapped photographers themselves).
The DPS can:
+ offer technical advice and support to any disabled member;
+ offer advice on photography and darkrooms to schools, day centres etc;
+ supply or advise on camera supports and modifications;
+ supply equipment on loan - help with post and packaging appreciated;
+ distribute donated equipment to members;
+ exhibit members' pictures to the general public at an Annual Exhibition;
+ provide a quarterly newsletter;
+ provide discounted membership of the Royal Photographic Society and offer subsidised courses.
Anyone with a registerable disability is entitled to full membership, and to participate in all events. Anyone with an interest in photography and the disabled can join as a "friend" of the Society.
