Comment: | The Summerfield is registered for thirty two nursing, three residential and six day care places for elderly, terminally ill and physically disabled people. A recent addition provides facilities for respite care in hotel-type accommodation. The nursing home is ideal for the elderly, terminally ill, physically disabled, people needing respite, and those who are post operative. Facilities for residents include chiropody, eye tests, physiotherapy sessions and weekly visits from a hairdresser. Residents can choose to join in bingo, scrabble or other social activities. Communion services are held twice a month. At the Summerfield they concentrate more on the health and condition of the patients, and whilst they recognise the importance of the welfare and entertainments, it is not their priority. They are happy with the nursing and treatment of a patient Post Operative etc. to achieve a quality of life that they can enjoy as much as possible, then to follow, perhaps another establishment that specialises in long term care with activities would be more suitable. |
