Volunteers based at the Information Point in the new build, provide information and directions for patients and visitors. The service is being extended over 2006 to include additional services for day surgery patients and planned ward admissions. They will help settle patients and provide general housekeeping information about the ward ie. toilet facilities, phones etc. and for those patients who arrive alone or are nervous, can remain with them until going down for surgery. The service is currently recruiting additional volunteers for this scheme.
