Winston's Wish offers a grief support programme to any child aged between three and eighteen who has experienced the death of their father, mother, brother or sister and their families. Winston's Wish is based in Cheltenham, and is jointly funded by statutory and voluntary agencies. It is a registered charity. The programme is led by Julie Stokes, Clinical Psychologist, and a small team of professionals, supported by a large team of volunteers. Group interventions and individual help are provided after careful assessments. Group activities are usually held at the Wilderness Centre in the Forest of Dean. Winston's Wish have set up the Family Line (0845-20-30-40-5) to offer support, guidance and information to anyone caring for a bereaved child or young person. This is a National Helpline operating Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. All calls are charged at local rate.
