The National Osteoporosis Society (NOS) aims to increase awareness of osteoporosis by supplying information; also they can locate local screening services. Numerous publications are available and for ongoing up-to-date information, there is a quarterly newsletter. They lobby government for the improvement of facilities to help prevent and treat osteoporosis. Many fund raising activities are arranged to promote research into the condition. Contact can be made by telephone, e-mail or letter. The switchboard number (0845-130-3076)(10:00am to 4:00pm weekdays) - is the number to use for information about the NOS, joining, and local support groups;
The helpline (0845-4500-230)(10:00am to 3:00pm weekdays) - is manned by NOS nurses and is a confidential telephone helpline providing inform,ation on all aspects of osteoporosis. You can also e-mail the helpline on [email protected] or write to the nurses (at the main office address.
