The aims of Deafblind UK are to enable people with a dual sensory impairment to live full and active lives despite their disability. Activities are many and include visiting and assessing deafblind people, inclusion in national development-lobbying groups, information and advice on dual sensory loss, counselling, training, social activities, rehabilitation services, holiday flat, independent living accommodation, linking deafblind people via magazines in touch-based media, international representation and provision of touch based telecommunications.
They also offer a floating support service for people with a sensory disability in the Gloucester area, through the Supporting People programme, and employ a Regional Development Officer covering Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Bristol; phone 01733-358100.
