Comment: | The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is solely dedicated to the support of all deaf children and young deaf people, their families and professionals working with them. Their services include:
a freephone helpline, open from Monday to Friday 10:00am to 5:00pm, giving clear, balanced information and support on many issues related to childhood deafness;
a network of family officers offering advice on education and welfare benefits for deaf children;
events for families, including arts, sports, outdoor activities and parenting days;
local groups offering activities for families and a chance to meet other parents;
free membership to parents and carers of deaf children;
free publications and an online discussion group for parents on their website.
The NDCS vision is of a world without barriers for every deaf child. They provide opportunities for young deaf people to develop social skills, confidence and independence, work with professionals and policy makers and campaign on behalf of all deaf children and their families. |
