IA (Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Support Group) is a UK registered charity for people who have to undergo surgery which involves the removal of their colon (colectomy) and the creation of either an ileostomy or an ileo-anal pouch. The aims of IA are:
to help anyone whose colon has been, or is about to be, removed by surgical procedure or who has an ileostomy;
to promote and co-ordinate research into bowel disease and other conditions leading to removal of the colon, surgical procedures pertaining thereto, and related matters;
to keep ileostomists and others informed of matters of interest by disseminating information by way of a Journal, by planning conferences and courses on topics of interest, and any other way which is charitable and the trustees consider appropriate.
