The British Council for Prevention of Blindness (BCPB) aims to prevent blindness and the loss of sight everywhere, by:
funding Research in UK Hospitals and Universities into the causes and treatment of the major eye diseases;
supporting practical treatment programmes and research in the developing world;
promoting vital skills, leadership, awareness and demand for community eye health in the developing world through the education of doctors and nurses.

The council do not however deal with individual welfare cases in the UK.
