Comment: | The Shopmobility service provides battery powered scooters and wheelchairs, and manual chairs, to help people use all City Centre amenities. Chairs may be reserved in advance by phone. The base is located in Hampden Way, accessible from Wellington Street via Eastgate Street, and is open from 9:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Saturday. Demonstrators will assist new users in getting started. Help is provided to transfer clients to and from a car or the Dial-a-Ride bus. It is free to hire a vehicle for use that day in the town centre, although donations are welcome
Manual wheelchairs and scooters are available for longer term hire for a small charge:
Manual wheelchair (£20.00 returnable deposit) Hire for one day £2.00; a weekend £5.00; one week £10.00; one month £35.00; two months £60.00; three months £80.00.
Scooter (£20.00 returnable deposit) Hire for one day £10.00; weekend £20.00; one week £30.00; two weeks £50.00; three weeks £60.00.
