Comment:

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CFT) is working to improve treatment to help people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to live longer, healthier and more productive lives. The CFT helps people and their families by offering information, emotional and practical support. There are over seven thousand children and adults with CF in the UK, and about seventy to eighty families in Gloucestershire who have been affected by cystic fibrosis. The CF Support Worker offers advice and support especially to newly-diagnosed families, including advice regarding welfare benefits (help with completion of DLA applications), and applications for funding through the CF Trust. Regular local meetings are held, with specialist speakers. There is a separate information service for medical and health professionals and conferences are held at national and international level. Special advice is available on holidays and travel, insurance and mortgages etc. The success of all this work depends on continued public goodwill and financial support and the dedicated help of hundreds of volunteers.
