The Sickle Cell Society gives help and support to families affected by this disease. It offers advice and information re. day to day care, employer/employee information, support for health professionals, teaching resources, inheritance patterns, prenatal testing and social events for affected families. It can also provide home and hospital visits by members of the support group. Annual day trips are arranged via the support groups. The Society has an annual holiday scheme which provides twenty children with a holiday for one week, funds permitting. There is an annual London to Brighton sponsored Bike Ride and a Christmas party is provided for affected children. The Society will offer financial assistance to families when possible. Videos and publications are available for purchase.
