The British Deaf Association (BDA) runs a Helpline (0870-770-3300) providing advice and information on a range of subjects such as welfare benefits, education, etc.
Activities of the BDA are numerous, and include:
+ campaigning in the interest of deaf people;
+ encouraging the recognition of British Sign Language;
+ youth service;
+ representing Great Britain on the World Federation of the Deaf.
The website is called the Sign Community and enables members to network over the site. The BDA has offices in Glasgow, Belfast, Warrington, Cardiff and London (details on their website), as well as the main office in Coventry, but all queries can be made to Coventry - they will be forwarded if necessary.
