The Association funds research into stroke illness and provides direct help for patients and their families. A local call rate information line is available on 0845-303-3100.
The Information Centre provides free and confidential information, support and advice to stroke patients and their families. It covers the areas of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bristol and Bath, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. A variety of publications are available from the Centre. Centre staff can also put patients in touch with others through local Stroke Clubs.
Applications for Welfare Grants can be made through a social worker, health professional or CAB. These grants are means tested and are made to help with specific needs arising through stroke illness. The Association can provide, in some areas, support for new stroke families and help for those whose speech has been affected by stroke. For publications - see separate entry for Resource Centre.
