Comment: | The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) is the single, independent inspectorate for social care in England. It incorporates the work formerly done by:
+ The Social Services Inspectorate (SSI);
+ SSI / Audit Commission Joint Review Team:
+ The National Care Standards Commission (NCSC).
The CSCI has a wider remit than its predecessor organisations. Bringing together the inspection, regulation and review of all social care services into one organisation allows for a more rational and integrated system. The CSCI will be able to provide a complete picture of social care in England:
+ locally and nationally in adult services;
+ for people who use social services;
+ for local councils, voluntary and private providers;
+ for government.
The Commissions primary function is to promote improvements in social care. |
