Comment: | Paradise House is a residential community based on Christian values and the teachings of Rudolf Steiner for up to twenty four adults with learning disabilities, which provides a high level of support and guidance. Various activities and workshops are offered which give opportunities and encouragement for co-workers (residents) to lead as varied and full a life as possible.
Co-workers, staff and volunteers live in four houses set amidst beautiful countryside. Each house is furnished to a high standard; all residents have single rooms, usually en-suite. Within the grounds there is provision for a wide variety of activities.
Paradise House admits co-workers with a range of disabilities, but due to the extreme gradients of the site, they cannot cater for people with severe physical handicaps. Nor can they cater for people who make repeated assaults, or who have a severe mental illness.
Referrals are welcomed from local authorities. Paradise House staff visit the applicant to assess their suitability. Introductory visits can then be arranged and, if they are satisfactory, a three month trial period follows. |
