Comment: | The National Association of Local Societies for Visually Impaired People (NALVSI) seeks to encourage improvement in the quality and diversity of local services by promoting the NALSVI Core Services Standards. These standards are in the NALSVI Handbook, a self assessment tool to assist local societies to evaluate, expand and develop their services. NALSVI core services cover the following areas of operation:
+ information and information services;
+ benefit and welfare rights information;
+ newsletter;
+ display and demonstration of equipment;
+ a resource centre;
+ disability awareness;
+ Social Activities;
+ home visiting service;
+ hospital information service.
The handbook gives guidance on volunteers, their recruitment, management and training. They can also refer people to their local blind society or Regional Office for help and advice on visual impairment issues. |
