Cancer Black Care (CBC) aims to address the cultural and emotional needs of people affected by cancer, as well as their carers, families and friends. Services offered include:
culturally appropriate and relevant information on all aspects of cancer care;
support throughout the illness;
cancer information in different languages;
telephone contact and drop in service;
resource library;
one to one listening and counselling;
support group meetings;
advice on general welfare benefits, grants and basic dietary needs;
advocacy, interpreting and befriending.
The drop in service is available for anyone with cancer, their family and friends or health care professionals. If you are unable to visit the centre, they have a telephone help line offering you advice and support. Each caller will receive a confidential, prompt and appropriate response.
There are also drop in centres in London NW10 and SE5, Manchester and Birmingham - please phone for details.
