The Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders Association (SWEDA) aims to support all those affected by eating disorders, be they sufferer, family member or any others who care.
They are based in Street and can provide services across Somerset and the surrounding counties. They can offer help and support to anyone in their area who is affected by eating disorders (sufferers, carers, friends, professionals etc.). There is a wide range of services including a telephone helpline, low cost counselling and support groups. Information service leaflets are available on request.
SWEDA currently has funding for a schools project working across the country in secondary schools with talks, workshops and education on eating disorders. For further information, please see their website.
SWEDA also provides training for professionals working with eating disorder clients, training and policy development for schools, colleges and youth organisations, and supports research at all levels.
