Comment:

The Intercountry Adoption Centre (IAC) (formerly the Overseas Adoption Helpline) is a UK registered charity. It aims to ensure that, if people do contemplate adoption from another country, they have a clear understanding of the issues involved.
Families and young adopted people also contact IAC after the adoption has taken place. They may want to make contact with other adoptive families, or find specialist support and help.
Intercountry adoption is usually the only chance for the children concerned to grow up in a loving family. It is a huge undertaking to offer a child a new life in a totally different. Intercountry adoption is both rewarding and challenging and not everyone who first enquires about the possibilities will follow it through. At IAC, they believe it is as important to help some people decide against proceeding as it is to support those who chose to continue.
They provide written information and telephone advice concerning intercountry adoption requirements and procedures in the UK and of other countries which place children for inter country adoption, including fact sheets about individual countries' requirement and procedures.
