Comment:	The Brain and Spinal Injury Charity (BASIC) aims to promote and fund research into brain injury and offer support to people affected by brain injury. It provides information booklets and a confidential helpline for Neurological conditions, brain Injury and any other conditions affecting the brain and spine and offers information on a network of support groups. BASIC also runs a Helpline on 0870-750-0000. For many people, it is their first contact with BASIC. When it was set up in 1995, it was the first ever national helpline for people recovering from brain surgery and it continues to provide vital support and advice for those in crisis.
