The Community Development Foundation (CDF) is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and a registered charity. CDF's mission is to lead community development analysis and strategy that will empower people to influence decisions that affect their lives. Their work cuts across Government Departments, regional and local public agencies and the community and voluntary sectors. They also operate at European and international level. CDF aims to build engaged, cohesive and stronger communities by:
advising government and other bodies on community involvement, civil renewal and community cohesion;
supporting community work of all kinds through networks, links with practitioners, funding and management of local projects;
carrying out research, evaluation and policy analysis to identify good practice in all aspects of community development;
training, conferences, publications and consultancy.
