All staff, receptionists, nurses and doctors at Saint Catherine's work together as a team known as a primary health care team. Although most of the work involves helping patients who are unwell they are also involved in health promotion, reducing the chances of someone falling ill in the first place. They are involved in national screening programmes, and in the health of children through routine immunisation and developmental checks. They run clinics intended to prevent ill health and also some which, help maintain the health of patients with chronic disease such as heart problems, asthma and diabetes. The clinical staff includes nurses, health visitors, midwives and doctors. They are all based at the surgeries but also work in the community and occasionally in hospital.
