Comment: | The Springs Community was established in 1995 to provide a range of high-quality, value for money services designed specifically for people affected by Asperger's Syndrome and autism-spectrum conditions and made available within a setting offering the benefits and support of community-based living while encouraging the growth of the greatest degree of autonomy and independence possible for the individual.
The Springs, owned by Cygnet Healthcare Ltd, is registered for twenty nine residents. Referrals are accepted through local authorities from all over the country. The terms of their registration allow them to accept people between sixteen and and forty five years of age on admission - their registration is for sixteen to sixty five years old.
All residents have an individual care plan and programme, and all programmes address specific, autism-related issues, particularly the 'triad of impairments' - that is, impairments of social interaction, social communication, and social understanding and imagination. There is a large range of opportunities, challenges, and activities on offer and others can readily be developed to suit individual needs. |
