Respond exists to provide a range of services to victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse who have learning disabilities, and training and support to those working with them or caring for them. They provide a telephone helpline on 0808-808-0700 (open 12 noon to 5:00pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:00 to 7:00pm Mondays and Thursdays). They also offer therapy and counselling for individual clients, training and support for parents and professionals, training for people with learning difficulties who are parents, and risk assessments in individual situations. Respond can now also offer therapy and risk assessments for children and young people aged five to sixteen.
The Helpline is free of charge, but the other services are charged for (hourly rate generally) - prices on application. Respond is staffed by trained professionals. Respond challenges vulnerability and sexual abuse in the lives of people with learning disabilities.
