The site is edited by two GPs, who aim to direct non-medical people in the UK to good quality information about health and disease. They do this by reviewing health and illness related websites and link to many of these on this web directory. UK sites are the primary links as they feel that residents in the UK prefer to obtain health information from UK sources. They also suggest some links to selected overseas sites. Health professionals and people from outside the UK may also find Patient UK a useful resource.
Patient UK cannot accept responsibility for the information offered by the sites they link to. However, they tend to link to information provided by well known patient groups, hospitals, professional organisations, etc, in preference to 'personal pages' about disease experience.
