Comment:

NAPAC is a registered charity, set up as a result of a key recommendation by the National Commission of Inquiry into the Prevention of Child Abuse. They aim to:
respond to the distress caused in adulthood by ill treatment and / or neglect in childhood;
establish a national information line and postal service for people requiring advice and information;
provide support, training, information and resources to persons and organisations supporting people who have experienced ill treatment and/or neglect in childhood;
raise public awareness;
campaign to alleviate the impact of child abuse in adulthood.
They offer the NAPAC postal service; every request for help receives a personal reply. Upon request, they send out details of local support groups and a book list. The service is confidential and free to service users.
There is a national free phone info-line on 0800-085-3330. NAPAC advisors will help and support callers and point them in the right direction so that they can take control of their own recovery. They also produce an on-line newsletter.
