Comment: | Country Markets are local co-operatives run by shareholders throughout England, Wales and the Channel Islands. Originally set up by the Women's Institute (WI), they have grown to become a national institution. Country Markets are found in various venues in over four hundred towns and villages every week and offer a wide range of crafts, home grown and home made produce from the kitchen and garden. They provide:
+ an outlet for home produce in both large and small quantities;
+ an income;
+ an opportunity to experience a 'low risk' business;
+ a friendly venue to make and meet friends;
+ an opportunity to work co-operatively.
Country Markets are valuable outlets for local creative talent selling a wide range of goods. All producers are members of the local Country Markets Co-operative and produce must meet their high standards in addition to statutory legal requirements.
People who are interested in producing or helping in a Country Market should contact their nearest Country Market and someone will be willing to offer guidance and assistance. |
