Comment:

Jobcentre Plus is a government agency, part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
They offer a range of help for people, employed or unemployed, who are looking for work. They can also help with training, and are the point of contact for New Deal. For those who cannot find work, they arrange payments of Jobseekers' Allowance. No appointments necessary for initial enquiries. Appointments will be made to deal with more complex enquiries or for longer meetings, e.g. making a new claim to benefit or joining New Deal.
The Stroud office no longer processes any benefits for customers over pension age and it does not deal with Winter Fuel Payment enquiries. It does process all Bereavement Benefits for customers below pension age for all of Gloucestershire.
