Comment: | Co-operative Futures exists to support and develop Co-operative and Social Enterprise, and to help and promote Credit Unions.
Social Enterprises are businesses that trade to deliver their social aims:
+ trading - aim to be a viable business;
+ social purpose - have defined social purpose, e.g. job creation and / or provision of local goods and services;
+ social ownership - they are owned and run by their communities, and profits are distributed either by profit sharing or for the benefit of the community;
+ Credit Union - is a non-profit making financial co-operative run by and for its members.
Co-operative Futures is involved with National networks, and offers support and advice for new and existing Social Enterprise.
