Comment: | Disaster Aftercare Services aim to help people who have experienced or who have been bereaved by traumatic events, such as war, fatal road traffic accidents, mass murder, sex abuse etc. Victims often develop debilitating symtoms which can limit their ability to work, stay healthy, affect relationships or lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). They aim to provide appropriate psychological aftercare for survivors and their families, often arranged through a victim's GP. They offer advocacy and aim to increase knowledge and awareness of the rational / emotional aftermath of disaster. Services are provided at the lowest cost possible, privately or via referral through NHS, industry or a solicitor. |
