Comment: | Camp Quality UK is a non-profit organisation providing a holiday experience and much more for children with cancer. Holidays are designed to meet the needs of children aged from five to sixteen. Children are divided into two age groups - five to ten years and eleven to sixteen years, with separate holidays for each group. The venues are chosen and the programmes planned to fit the ages of the children.
Activities vary but include such favourites as abseiling, sailing, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, swimming, horse riding, and hot air balloon rides. Less strenuous pursuits include box games, crafts, entertainments, and visits to leisure parks. All activities are supervised by properly trained and qualified staff.
The programme is always structured in such a way as to cater for all abilities and disabilities (although it should be said that amputees have climbed and abseiled rock-faces before now - with the help of dedicated, qualified staff). The aim is to let children do what they and our medical team feel they can do. The care of children is a prime concern and it is with this is mind that they employ staff with the appropriate level of expertise and experience.
Where appropriate, siblings can also attend. |
